Attempted thefts from motor vehicles in Acklam, Kader & Trimdon

Good afternoon

As you may be aware, there have been a number of reports of a male attemtping to access vehicles on drives and front of properties in the early hours of the morning 19th August. 

These incidents appear to have been commited by the same male. I believe this is an isolated occurance by a transient opportunist individual. I have a good description of the male from all of the footage I have received from vigilant residents so I am hopeful of eventually identifying the suspect.

In the meantime, I would ask everyone in my wards to be extra vigilant and keep property secure. Make sure your vehicles are locked, windows fully closed and nothing of value left on show in the vehicle - not even loose change as this can sometimes be enough lure for the criminal to target your vehicle and then take other valuable items. 

Car crime can occur in seconds at a great cost and inconvenience to the vehicle owner. 

If you see anything suspicious on your video doorbells, please let me know.

As always, any crimes need to be reported to 101 - or if happening in real time to 999. 

I will continue to foot patrol your wards as much as possible and keep you informed of any updates.
